Is Radiesse Good for Lip Augmentation?
Radiesse is normally used as a dermal filler for nasolabial folds and cheeks and works great in those areas. It is definitely not recommended to ever use Radiesse in the lips. The product is thick and white and can cause lumps. Stick to hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane in the lips. Another option you can try that has a longer lasting result is to have fat grafted to your lips.
Clinical Context
Radiesse is calcium-based and thicker than hyaluronic acid fillers, which is why it can form firm lumps under the thin, mobile skin of the lips. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane are designed to sit smoothly in delicate tissue and can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if adjustment is needed. Fat grafting uses your own tissue for a natural, longer-lasting result, though the outcome depends heavily on the technique and experience of the surgeon performing it.
