Juvederm or Restylane - Which is Smoother for Lip Augmentation?

We prefer to use Juvederm for lip augmentation because it is a slightly thinner hyaluronic acid product than Restylane. Thinner products tend to be smoother and less lumpy than thicker products, making them a better choice for more delicate areas like the lips. Juvederm Plus and Perlane are even thicker forms of hyaluronic acid and we rarely use them for lip enhancement.

Clinical Context

Lips move constantly with talking, eating, and smiling, so filler placed there gets flexed far more than in a still area like the cheek. Softer, thinner hyaluronic acid gels tend to feel more natural and less noticeable under this repeated movement, while thicker gels are better suited to areas needing more structure and lift, like cheeks or jawline. This is a key reason injectors often choose different filler types for lips than for other facial areas.
