Restylane lip injections 3 wks ago, no results, but skin of top of the lips look swollen and pops up instead of lips. Advice?

It's possible your injector focused more on the vermillion border and the white lip (area above the red lip). You can achieve a fuller lip by placing more product in the body of the lip itself. It's a good idea to follow up with your injector and discuss your concerns and to make sure he or she is a board-certified injector.

Clinical Context

Lip tissue is thin and can swell easily after filler, especially near the border between the lip and the skin above it. Early swelling from normal healing usually fades within a week or two as the body reabsorbs extra fluid around the gel. Filler placed too high, near the vermillion border rather than in the body of the lip, can also create a puffy look above the lip line without adding real fullness. If swelling persists well beyond normal healing time, it's worth having your injector reassess where the product sits.
