Mini abdominoplasty scars can be slightly longer than c-section scars. Full abdominoplasties that include tightening of the rectus muscles will be slightly longer and include a scar around your unbilicus. One of the scar areas of concern for full abdominplasty involves the belly button which can look strange post-operatively. In our practice, we've developed techniques to minimize the appearance of scars and create a fantastic looking belly buttons after tummy tucks. Clinical Context
During a full tummy tuck, the umbilicus stays attached to its internal blood supply while the surrounding skin is pulled down and removed. The surgeon then cuts a new opening in the repositioned skin and brings the belly button through it, which is why a thin circular scar forms around it. How well that scar heals depends on tension at closure and the shape of the opening cut. A mini tuck skips this step entirely since less skin is removed and the umbilicus isn't relocated, which is part of why its scar pattern differs.
