Voluma Uneven and Bumpy: Will it Improve?

After treatment with filler, some patients can experience some temporary lumpiness and bumpiness for a few days. Most of the time it will soften up and even out after the initial swelling resolves. Sometimes gentle massage may help smooth things out. It is always best to contact the person who injected your filler so they can better evaluate your particular concern and give you appropriate advice based on what they see.

Clinical Context

Voluma is a thicker, firmer gel than many fillers, made to add structural volume rather than spread easily, so it can take a bit longer than softer fillers to settle into place. In the first few days, most bumps or unevenness come from needle trauma and swelling. As that resolves, the gel typically integrates more smoothly with surrounding tissue. If firmness or lumps persist afterward, your injector can examine the area and determine whether massage, time, or an adjustment is needed.
