What is the preferred method of redoing Restylane?

Most injectors, especially if you choose to go to a different injector who will be doing "revision work," will prefer to start from scratch and recommend dissolving the product first. It's more challenging to "mask" the lumps and bumps of pre-existing filler and may yield a less predictable result, particularly in the tear trough where the skin is thin and less forgiving than other areas on the face. It's advised to wait 1 week prior to re-injecting after dissolving.

Clinical Context

Hyaluronidase begins breaking down hyaluronic acid quickly, but it stays active in the tissue for some time afterward and can't tell the difference between old filler and your body's own natural hyaluronic acid. If new filler is placed too soon, leftover enzyme may dissolve it too, weakening your result. Waiting also lets swelling and bruising settle so your injector can see your natural contour and place filler accurately.
