Will 6 units of Botox in the jaw show any results?

6 units of botox is too small to make much of a difference in a bulky muscle like the masseters. On average, most patients start with a minimum of 20U per side to atrophy the masseter muscle and produce jawline slimming over time. Often times, more than one treatment is required for best results. 6U of botox is helpful for smaller muscles such as the mentalis (chin) or DAO (downturned corners of the mouth), which is also along the jawline.

Clinical Context

Botox for jaw slimming targets the masseter, the chewing muscle at the back of the jaw. This muscle sits near the parotid gland's duct and close to nerves controlling smile muscles, so precise injection depth and placement matter for avoiding side effects like an uneven smile or dry mouth. Higher doses used for jaw slimming require careful technique to keep the effect contained to the masseter, while smaller doses affect a smaller area with less risk of spread.
