Will Voluma cheek injections improve under eye hollows?

Voluma is a great product for enhancing the cheeks that can give you a natural appearance. While sometimes it may indirectly improve the appearance of other areas such as the nasolabial folds and jowls by lifting the cheeks, the results can vary greatly depending on your facial anatomy and bone structure. It is very difficult to directly target improving under eye hollows by injecting Voluma into the cheeks. Of course, Voluma is not recommended for direct injection to the tear troughs. A surgical alternative (that is more permanent) that you may want to look into is fat grafting into the tear troughs. Schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon to see if you are a good candidate for this procedure.

Clinical Context

The tear trough area is riskier to treat than the cheek because the skin is thin and blood vessels sit close to the surface. Filler placed too superficially there can cause a bluish discoloration called the Tyndall effect, and because there's little room for swelling, even small amounts can look lumpy or shift with facial expression. Fat grafting avoids most of these filler-specific risks, though it carries its own healing considerations at the donor site and depends on how well the transferred fat survives.
