After Juvederm is Injected, Should You Massage or Press it out?

Sometimes the bump will continue to resolve over time, but it is always best to consult with your injector. I sometimes tell my patients they may gently massage the area between their thumb and index finger for a few minutes at a time a few times a day to help smooth out the bump.

Clinical Context

Juvederm is a smooth gel that can sometimes form a small, firm bump right after injection. Gentle massage can help spread the gel evenly and smooth the area, especially in the first few days after treatment. Not all Juvederm products behave the same way—some are designed to be firmer and hold shape, so massage isn't always recommended. Always follow your injector's specific instructions, since technique depends on which product was used and where it was placed.
