Is it normal to still be bruised 2 weeks after Juvederm lip fillers?

Yes, bruising two weeks out can still be normal, though it's on the longer end of what we'd expect. The lips have a dense network of small blood vessels close to the surface, so even a fine needle or cannula can nick one and cause bruising that lingers longer than in areas with less vascularity. Most filler bruises resolve within one to two weeks as the body reabsorbs the trapped blood, but thicker or deeper bruises can take a bit longer, especially if you bruise easily or take blood thinners, fish oil, or anti-inflammatories.

We generally recommend topical arnica gel three to four times daily, along with gentle cold compresses in the first 48 hours and warm compresses after that to help circulation clear the area. If the bruise is still firm, tender, growing, or associated with unusual swelling or color changes at two weeks, have it examined in person, since that can occasionally signal a small hematoma or, rarely, a vascular issue that needs prompt attention from your injector or a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Clinical Context

Bruising after lip filler varies a lot between patients. Lips have many small blood vessels close to the skin, so bruising can look more dramatic and last longer than in less vascular areas. Most bruises fade within one to two weeks, but some take longer, especially with blood thinners, alcohol, or vigorous activity. Arnica gel and cold compresses may help some people, though results vary. If a bruise feels firm, keeps growing, or brings new pain or color change, have it examined promptly.
