How can Juvederm be reversed?
There is a product that can be used to dissolve Juvederm called hyaluronidase. It works by breaking down hyaluronic acid, including some of your body's own natural stores, so the treated area can look a little deflated for a short time until your own hyaluronic acid builds back up. Results are usually noticeable within a day or two of treatment. Talk to your injector about it as there are risks involved with its use. If you have a history of bee-sting allergies, mention it beforehand, since some hyaluronidase products share features with bee venom proteins and rare allergic reactions can occur. It also matters what filler was actually used, since hyaluronidase only works on hyaluronic-acid fillers and won't affect other types. Bring up any past filler history at your consultation so we can plan accordingly.
Clinical Context
Hyaluronidase breaks down hyaluronic acid, including your body's own natural stores, so treated areas can look slightly deflated for a short time until your own hyaluronic acid rebuilds. If you have a history of bee-sting allergies, mention it before treatment, since some hyaluronidase products share features with bee venom proteins and rare allergic reactions are possible. It's also important to know exactly what filler was originally used, because hyaluronidase only dissolves hyaluronic-acid-based fillers and has no effect on other filler types.
