Back pain, fluid and lumps after BBL? Is this normal?

While there can be some swelling and unevenness of the areas treated, fluid drainage after two weeks isn't typical. We've done thousands of Brazilian Butt Lifts and drainage after several weeks is unusual. You could have fat necrosis or a seroma. Visiting your plastic surgeon as soon as possible should be your next move. It is possible that this will all resolve without any need for intervention but you should see you surgeon to be sure.

Clinical Context

After a BBL, transferred fat needs to establish a new blood supply in the treated area to survive. Fat that doesn't get enough blood flow can break down, releasing fluid that collects as a seroma or hardens into fat necrosis. Some swelling and unevenness are expected in early recovery, but new or ongoing drainage weeks later is not part of normal healing and should be checked in person, since only an exam can tell fluid buildup from a normal healing pattern.
