Brazilian Buttock Augmentation Vs. Butt Injection
A Brazilian butt lift uses liposuction to harvest your own fat, then reinjects it into the buttocks for volume and shape. A butt injection using silicone or other filler material, and traditional butt implants, place a synthetic device or foreign material under or above the gluteal muscle. The BBL advantage is that you get natural-feeling results, subtle scarring from small lipo incisions, and the bonus of contouring the donor sites, hips, waist, thighs, wherever the fat is taken from.
One caveat: not all transferred fat survives. The fat cells need a new blood supply to survive in their new location, and a portion, commonly a meaningful minority, gets reabsorbed by the body in the months after surgery. Surgeons account for this by overfilling somewhat at the time of surgery. What remains after that initial healing period tends to be stable long term, but it is not accurate to call it permanent in the way an implant is.
Butt implants may be a better option if you lack enough donor fat. Choose a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in gluteal fat grafting, since technique affects both safety and fat survival.

Fat transfer (BBL) and butt implants are surgical procedures done in an operating room, producing long-lasting volume change. Injectable buttock fillers are not FDA-approved for large-volume augmentation and carry serious risks, including vascular complications from unregulated silicone or filler products. Candidacy depends on having enough donor fat for grafting, willingness to accept implant maintenance, or avoiding unsafe injectable alternatives altogether.
