Can I Use Fibrel for a Brazilian Butt Lift?
No. Fibrel was a gelatin-based injectable matrix used decades ago for scars and fine wrinkles, and it's no longer manufactured, so it isn't an option for Brazilian Butt Lift volume at all. But even setting that aside, a BBL requires large volumes to reshape and lift the buttocks, and any injectable filler is the wrong tool for that job. Filling that much space with a non-native material raises real risks: infection, chronic inflammation, nodule and scar tissue formation, and unpredictable resorption that changes your shape unevenly over time.
Fat is different because it's your own tissue. Harvested by liposuction and re-injected, it integrates with a blood supply and gives a natural, lasting result when done correctly, which is why autologous fat transfer remains the standard for BBL. Some fat resorption is expected and factored into the amount transferred. If you're considering a BBL, get an exam with a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in fat grafting to discuss safe volumes and technique.
Clinical Context
After fat transfer, buttocks often look fuller than final size due to swelling in the first weeks. Transferred fat needs time to develop a blood supply; the portion that doesn't survive is gradually reabsorbed, and results settle over several months. Avoiding direct sitting or lying on the area during early healing helps protect the graft while it's establishing blood flow. Most surgeons recommend waiting for the swelling to resolve before judging final shape or discussing any additional touch-up procedures.
