Can Latisse Be Used by Contact Lens Wearers?

Latisse can be used with contact lenses. It is important to recognize that Latisse is not an extension masscara but a drug that will actually increase the length of your upper lid eyelashes. It is not to be used for the lower lid lashes and there are risks (as with any medication). Be sure to discuss these issues completely with your board-certified plastic surgeon, dermatologist or ophtho. Allergan (the manufacturer) is predicting it will be bigger than Botox. I hope this helps!

Clinical Context

Latisse works best for lash thinning from aging or genetics, not from an underlying eyelid problem, so your provider will ask about your eye history first. If you wear contact lenses, take them out before applying Latisse and wait before putting them back in, since the solution can be absorbed by the lens. Apply it carefully along the lash line only—getting it on the skin can occasionally darken pigment there. Mention any history of eye pressure problems, irritation, or glaucoma before starting.
