Curious About Using Latisse on my Eyebrows. Is It Ok?
Latisse is FDA approved for use at lashes at the upper lid. Some people have tried to use it off-label to thicken brows with mixed success. Applying to it other areas may cause hair growth in unwanted areas such as the upper lid above the lash line and below the lower lash line and next to the eyes if the product inadvertently drips or migrates after application. The hairs may not grow in as thick as the eyebrow hairs and may be very fine hairs.
Clinical Context
Latisse contains bimatoprost, which prolongs the growth phase of hair follicles it touches. It's FDA-approved for lashes because that's where it was studied and shown safe and effective. Using it on eyebrows is off-label — it hasn't been formally tested there, so results and safety data are limited. Because eyebrow skin sits close to the eyelids, product can spread and cause unwanted fine hair growth nearby. Anyone considering this use should discuss it with their physician first.
