Did I Mess Up my Juvederm?
Injectable fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane, do a good job staying where they are injected and don’t move around your face much with gentle massage. We recommend gentle massage to help to soften lumps if they are felt after injection (which can be a lump of product or localized swelling) but doing do does not displace the product in a way that ruins the results.
Clinical Context
Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm form a soft gel that resists migration once placed. Gentle massage puts light pressure on the skin surface but isn't strong enough to move the gel through deeper tissue layers. Early lumps or bumps are usually swelling or the product settling into its final position, and typically smooth out within one to two weeks as swelling resolves.
