Duck-shaped Lips 48 + Hours After Juvederm Filler?
Swelling due to the injected filler can cause concern in the first few days post injection. Normally once the swelling subsides in a few days, most patients are happy with the end result. If you feel that too much filler was placed at your lip, contact your injector to see what your options are. Hyaluronidase can dissolve the filler, but usually giving it some time for the swelling and bruising to resolve and even massaging it can help.
That said, if you notice blanching or white, dusky, or blue skin, severe or increasing pain, coolness of the skin, vision changes, or any stroke-like symptoms, you need to be seen the same day, since these can be signs of a blocked blood vessel, which is treatable with hyaluronidase if caught early.
Clinical Context
Swelling and slight asymmetry are common in the first few days after lip filler and usually improve as the body clears normal post-injection inflammation. Gentle massage is sometimes suggested to help smooth uneven areas, though results vary by patient. If the shape still looks off once swelling resolves, your injector can check whether more filler or hyaluronidase — an enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid filler — is needed. Seek prompt care for severe pain, skin color changes, or coldness in the lips.
