How Long After Juvederm Does it Take for Swelling to Go Down?

Swelling from Juvederm normally subsides within the first week and at most 2 weeks. The product will go away over time but takes months. Follow up with your injector so that they may evaluate you appropriately and tell you what your options are. There is a product called hyaluronidase that can be used to dissolve the Juvederm if necessary.

Clinical Context

Swelling after Juvederm is a normal response to the needle and to the hyaluronic acid itself, which naturally attracts water into the tissue right after injection. This is why results can look fuller at first than they will once things settle. Areas with thin skin, like the lips or under-eyes, tend to stay swollen longer than the cheeks or jawline. Limiting alcohol, salt, and strenuous exercise for a few days afterward can help swelling resolve more comfortably.
