Is it safe to store partially used Juvederm, then return to use the rest later?

It is common for practices to save your remaining filler for two months or so. Just make sure the filler is being stored and cared for properly until you return.

The gel itself is stable and doesn't break down quickly once capped, so the bigger concern is contamination at the needle and cap rather than the product losing effectiveness. That's why a fresh sterile needle should be used each time, and the syringe should be clearly labeled with your name and the date so it isn't mixed up with anyone else's. If you notice the cap seal looks broken, the syringe wasn't refrigerated, or you're past the two month window, ask about using a new syringe instead.

Clinical Context

Hyaluronic acid gel is chemically stable once cross-linked, so a capped syringe doesn't break down quickly at room temperature or in the refrigerator. The real concern with reusing a partial syringe is contamination at the needle and cap, not the gel itself losing effectiveness. That's why a new sterile needle is used each time filler is reinjected, and why the syringe should be clearly labeled and stored properly between visits. Ask your provider how they store and track your remaining product.
