Is it still ok to get a BBL if I have lower back problems?
Back pain can be a tricky issue. It can be caused by many factors. Generally adding fat to the buttocks and removing fat from the trunk should not directly affect your back pain. However, sometimes during recovery you're not sleeping or sitting in your usual positions. This can make back pain worse but should resolve when you're farther along in your recovery. Abdominoplasty may have a larger effect on back pain - and can even create some improvement - again depending on the nature of the back pain. This can be particularly true if you have a large diastasis. Talk to your plastic surgeon.
Clinical Context
Back pain has many possible causes, so it helps to know whether yours comes from a spinal or disc problem or from muscle strain and posture. Structural spine issues generally aren't changed by BBL surgery itself. Muscle-related discomfort can shift temporarily during recovery because you're sitting, sleeping, and moving differently while healing. Your surgeon will want to know your specific diagnosis and any prior imaging or treatment so they can plan safe positioning during surgery and give recovery guidance suited to your back.
