Latisse Causing Dark Circles Under the Eyes?

Latisse can sometimes cause darkening of the skin where the product is applied. This darkness will fade after you discontinue using the product. If you are experiencing some darkness at your lower eyes, you may want to try using less product at your upper lash line since it may be transferring some of that product to the lower lid and causing darkness there. You only need a small amount of the product with each application. Also, you may try using a thinner brush that will offer more precise application, but make sure you are using common sense when it comes to hygiene and contamination when using a single brush for multiple applications.

Clinical Context

Bimatoprost, the active ingredient in Latisse, can increase melanin production in skin it contacts, not just at the lash line. The skin beneath the eye is thin and sensitive to this effect, so even small amounts of product that migrate there during blinking or application can cause visible darkening. This pigment change is typically temporary and fades once the product is stopped, though it may take several weeks to resolve.
