Lumpy Ridges and Bruises After Juvederm Injections

I had Juvederm injected under my eyes for hollows. This was done almost 2 weeks ago. Now I have bruises under both eyes and small pillow-like ridges under both eyes. Is this normal? How long do the bruises last? What are these puffs of pillows?

Juvederm for tear trough correction

Thanks for your question - Unlike Dr. Beraka, in our San Francisco area practice, we prefer Juvederm compared to Restylane for tear trough deformity correction. This area of the body requires expert injection technique. The reason is the extremely thin skin, the potential for palpating lumps of HA (the main component of restylane and juvederm) and the ease at which this area can be bruised. To answer your question the bruising can last for over a month. Try gentle massage to manage the swelling and bruising. Juvederm is somewhat thinner compared to Restylane and is somewhat more forgiving. I hope this helps.

Restylane is a family of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers produced by Galderma using NASHA technology. The product line includes Restylane-L for lips and facial wrinkles, Lyft for cheeks and hands, Refyne and Defyne for nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and Kysse for lip augmentation. Each formulation has specific gel properties optimized for different tissue depths and treatment areas.

Patient safety protocols, including operating in accredited facilities with board-certified anesthesiologists, significantly reduce surgical risk.
